Background & aim: Psychological factors, such as anxiety, are regarded as the risk factors for coronary artery disease. This study aimed to determine psychometric indicators of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. A convenience sample of 209 patients with CAD referred to Golestan Hospital in Ahvaz city in 2022 select. They completed the GAD-7. The research data were analyzed using SPSS-25 and Amos-24 software.
Results: The mean and standard deviation of age for men was 58.47±10.45 and for women it was 62.40±9.47, out of whom 152 participants (72.73%) were male. Cronbach’s α was 0.936. Using the exploratory factor analysis (EFA), one factor was obtained. The confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed that the modified one-factor model of GAD-7 (we name this factor GAD-7) has a good fit.
Conclusions: The GAD-7 had good psychometric properties for use in patients with CAD.
